DeLonna Brown, MSW, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years experience working with children, adults, and families in the mental health field. Her formal education is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family/Child Trauma, and Family Systems. Mrs. Brown utilizes various modalities and interventions to create recovery plans that are unique to individual situations and emotional needs. Over the past couple of years, Mrs. Brown’s focus has turned to clinical therapy specializing in children and families with trauma, emotional, behavioral, childhood disorders, and children with high functioning Autism.
On any given day, you can find Mrs. Brown in her North Carolina office playing in the sand tray, performing with puppets or being “arrested” by her clients through Word Jail Cards, one of her many therapeutic games for children. Because of her extensive experience with diverse cultures, she understands the challenges, stigmas, and lack of resources for children with emotional and behavioral disorders. Realizing there was a lack of resources for parents and the mental health professionals working with these children as well, she developed a book series entitled, “I Am Xaidan”. These books focus on reducing the stigma of these disorders and act as a practical resource for parents and mental health professionals. The use of caterpillars in this series represents the transition and transformation one can experience before, during, and after they receive help and become a newer version of themselves.
